Hi guys
Another classic one this week that has been done before. Lately all my themes have been influenced by the weather - and it is a dreary day in Sydney today Lets see water themed photos...

A very wet baby Dusky Moorhen.
M-L
Red-browed Firetail sitting in the rain.
M-L
There is a female Wood Duck under there somewhere
M-L
Do you remember this one? That is not rain, this is wet horse poo. He dived into it to get a fat worm.
M-L
A White-Naped HE taking a drink:
Wow Nathan, the reflection is so sharp, almost as sharp as the original.
M-L
Thought I might take a different line and present a challenge... spot the Asian Dowitcher amongst the Bar-Tailed (& probably Black-tailed) Godwits, Eastern Curlew, Whimbrels and Knots. There were Black-Tailed Godwits identified in fight but hard to pick out once wings are down. This was taken at the Broome Bird Observatory in late July. It would be great to be there at peak season!
Second picture is of a White-Browed Crake at Townsville Common, a place worth re-visiting so I can get a better picture. This was a hasty shot in fading light from one of the many hides. Sue
A couple taken from in the water.
Mark
Beautiful shots everyone mpb, wow! You can't get much water themed than that penguin shot, awesome! What sort of penguin was it? Is that a type of Heron in the second shot? I'll stop the 20 questions now

Beautiful shots everyone

Laughing Kookaburra

Ruby, looking at the lava , I would think the photo might have been taken on Galapagos?? Could it be one of the Lava Herons? But I think there are other Herons on Galapagos?
M-L
Araminta, you are spot on. Both taken at the Galapagos. I think the heron is a lava heron.
The penguin is a Galapagos Penguin like this one also taken from in the water.

Wonderful! Thanks for that M-L & Mark. Look at the haughty expression on his/her face in that last shot, love it!

one wet bodied Coot.
Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.
This is an old photo (happy snaps camera), but a funny one of pelicans drinking the rain water!
Also one from the weekend of Black kites on the beach at Buffalo Creek, Darwin.
Early morning down at the local lake:
Thats a really beautiful photo Nathan
M-L: I see the plumed whistling ducks every day here at my place! They are a bit pesky at times because they come in, in flocks of 50 or more and eat all our poultrys food! They really are beautiful I love that in some light their backs look almost blue. And their eyes! Don't forget their eyes! They always turn out red on the camera, no matter what the lighting is
Love the photos. One more from our trip... a dawn cruise on Yellow Waters, Kakadu ... Wandering Whistling Duck. Sue
Pacific Black Duck on a beautifull day.
M-L
One of my favourite little birds, a Yellow Robin after a bath.
(this one often follows me around, she is the one that had the growth on her beak when she fledged almost two years ago and I didn't think she would survive. But she did)
M-L
a few Black-winged Stilts at local Wetlands (Jawbone)
M-L
Nice PBD, Stilts and robin.
A couple more, testing the water.
Mark
Australasian Gannet. Crested Tern.Pacific Black Ducklings.
Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.
I love the reflections and the water splash Mark
This Purple Swamphen loves her own reflection in the water.
so does the Magpie
I have no idea why this came up this way? Too late now, sorry.
M-L
That's a fish "out of the water", and the bird made sure it won't go back either
M-L
One more , making a splash.
M-L
A couple from the smile file.
1) fairly lonely young Australasian Grebe who spent a deal of time trying to adopt the ducks at the local lagoon.
2) A lovely male Darter down by the banks of the Brisbane River. For a long time I only ever saw the female of the pair, but he showed up eventually.
3) After some torrential rain earlier this year, the water at Minnippi Parklands rose up to cover the boardwalk thing around the lake. I liked the juxtaposition and the "Signs don't tell us what to do" attitude from the cormorants. :)
like the jokes windshear
Here is one of many photos of this immature Black-winged Stilt kissing its reflection
M-L
Love the reflections. Another one from the trip... Blue-Faced Honeyeater sourcing water where it can in the middle of nowhere at Heartbreak Hotel, NT
Dug up some more nice ones.
Couple of Grey Fantails, a Striated Heron doing some fishing, a Great Egret doing some fishing. A willy wagtail enjoying a break in my bird bath from nest-building.
Finally, another pair of civil disobediants. :) It might not be obvious from the photo, but this (somewhat inexplicable) sign was about 10 metres out into the Brisbane River.
Sue, I love that photo Great Art
Sorry windshear , we posted at the same time. Have to say, I love yours too.
M-L
I love the funny photo
These two photos were taken in a wekk when we had so much rain it flooded!
I'm sorry about the quality of the first shot It was just so cute!
One from my archive Bullers Albatross
Dale Huonville, Tasmania
Love the Albatross dwatsonb. Something I don't see every day. :)
Thanks Elsie and Araminta.
Elsie - lovely Scaly breasted lorikeets. I spotted a whole flock of them at Sherwood on sunday, and they were almost more yellow than green on their chest. Must be breeding season colours.
Shy Albatross
Dale Huonville, Tasmania
Great Crested Grebe.
M-L
Baby Australasian Coot
M-L
Female Gang Gang thinking , should I jump in? (we always have a big stick in the horses water troff, so birds can climb out should the get into trouble)
M-L
That's a little bit fancy. :D
Pied Cormorant with it's catch.Gannet with it's catch. Sooty Oystercatcher with it's catch.
Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.
Haha windshear, I used to have a "Great Aunt" who looked like that going to church on a Sunday
M-L
This photo too was taken at Galapagos, so lovely to see marine life swimming together without a care in the world.Pelican , seal and shark.
Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.
Mother and child in the early morning sun. (Austalasian Grebe)
M-L
Could not resist taking this photo of a Pelican sitting on top of a street light looking over the water at Rottnest Island, you can see Perth City in the background.
Kerry - Perth, Western Australia.
